Guadalcázar is a small town located 83 kilometers north of San Luis Potosi City and 132 kilometers south of Matehuala City in the state of San Luis Potosi. The town itself is located in a valley at the base of the scenic hills and mountains that make up this part of the Sierra Madre Oriental range.
The climbing in Guadalcázar is mainly overhanging limestone caves and cliffs similar to crags as far north as El Salto in Nuevo León and Chontalcoatlan (El Chonta) in the state of Guerrero. This area is characterized by world class routes climbing through large stalactite filled caves and vertical pocketed walls with lots of tufas, asa well as world class bouldering. Most of the routes are 30meters in length with routes in and around San Cayetano which reach up to 50 meters in length.
