Q~ what clothes should we bring/or need?

A~ if you are gunning for a long multi-pitch bring a long sleeve sun shirt, small pack to carry lunch, sun hat and comfortable shoes for the walk off. Even though Bernal is a lofty 7,000 feet in elevation and the high temps are in the 80’s the sun is still very intense. As for our other locations which are at 8,000 feet and above it is a good idea to bring a light puffy jacket along for early morning and nighttime hours.

Q~ will I need a passport?

A~ absolutely. To enter Mexico and more importantly to get back into your naturalized country you will need a valid passport. Once in Mexico all credentials can be packed away ready for the trip home as once past customs in the airport no one will be concerned with official documents (they just want to make sure you’re enjoying the beauty of Mexico).

Q~ is there an option for childcare while the parents are out pulling-down?

A~ Affirmative on the childcare. SouthernXposure has multiple daycare options for kids of all ages in each town we climb. Depending on grand plan for the day children can usually join us. Three out of three locations are very “kid friendly”. It is possible to bring the entire family along and still get lots accomplished.

Q~ is it possible to rent a car while we are visiting?

A~ That’s a huge thumbs-up! In fact, renting a car is not only easy…. it is completely affordable! This is the insider beta that you want to know. Pay for the rental car with a credit card that has rental insurance as a perk written into the contact. This way at point of sale it is possible to deny the insurance rider attached to the vehicle renter. This drops the price of the vehicle from $400 plus per week to $95.00 to $125.00 for an entire week. This is a no-brainer for wings to fly to any rest day activity. The hot springs are waiting!!

Q~ should we have pesos or dollars when we arrive?

A~ the best answer is to change dollars for pesos in the airport while in the process of traveling. It seems airport exchange agents give a conversion that is respectable without a lot of fees that banks may charge. Once landed in Queretaro it is possible to change money while in the process of leaving the airport but they have strange hours of operation…. If they aren’t open, they aren’t open. It’s best to handle everything before landing.

Q~ if someone in our group has dietary restrictions is there options for everyone?

A~ absolutely, positively. We have everyone covered. Vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, herbivore, or carnivore we have lots of options. Want to eat out? We can frequent different restaurants that have options in the menu or as it is Mexico, we can talk directly with the chef and design a meal that is delicious and designed specifically for anyone with a discerning palate. If going out seems cumbersome after a long day of climbing we have several chefs that will be happy to cook in the kitchen of the Airbnb. Breakfast, lunch or dinner we have everyone covered.

Q~ if we want to schedule three or four days of guiding can we separate the days so we can travel for rest days?

A~ however you want to schedule the climbing days is completely up to the visiting group. May we suggest the hot springs in San Miguel de Allende, the Monarch Butterfly preserve West of Mexico City, Nevado de Toluca National Park and Volcano outside of Toluca, the pyramids East of Mexico City or the mineral pools of Tolantongo. This is just the beginning of the adventure outside of the climbing here in Central Mexico.

Q~ What gear should we bring?

A~ If you prefer your own gear bring the usual; shoes, harness, helmet, belay device and chalk bag. If traveling and space is an issue, we have everything to outfit climbers for our adventures together.

Q~ How long are the days we spend at the cliffs?

A~ Our days start promptly at 9:00 am and it is normal to finish between 4 and 4:30 in the afternoon. There are exceptions to this as holidays get busy or if is a weekend and a long classic multi-pitch in Bernal is scheduled we will start at 8:15 to be the first group on the wall.

Q~ Should we tip our guide, and how much?

A~ Anyone in a service industry surely appreciates a tip. Every piece adds up to make the whole. As far as how much? Think of rock guides as waiters at your finest restaurant. The major difference is we are a very professional security blanket when in a vertical world. We take care of everything.

Q~ If we decide to climb “The Triple Crown” is there lodging close by so the areas?

A~ We have relationships in every town we visit. If the visiting group or individual wants to sleep close to the areas or base out of one town we can surely accommodate.
